Using Twitter to Find a Job
With the condition of the economy today, many people are using innovative methods for finding jobs. In addition, many people are creating innovative tools for people to use in their job searches. One of those tools harnesses the power of Twitter.
TweetMyJOBS.com
This service was founded by Gary Zukowski, a "21-year technology veteran of corporate America". With it, you can broadcast your job search to the entire Twitter community.
Recently, Cheezhead had an excellent interview with Zukowski. In that interview, Zukowski states, that "the job posting is not only available on TweetMyJOBS for searching, but is sent out on a job channel on Twitter, which is then available for anyone on Twitter to see. We also use hashtags for each posting, which helps for searching. Employers can even re-tweet their job postings, which will refresh the listing on Twitter."
In additoon, if you check tweetmyresume, you will find a listing of those who have posted resumes on TweetMyJOBS.com. The resumes can be re-tweeted by the poster every 24 hours, for greater exposure.
Using the Service
Using TweetMyJOBS is very simple. First, you need to establish a Tweeter account. Then, go the TweetMyJOBS.com and establish an account there. Once you set up an account, be sure to create your profile and post/upload your resume. Then, subscribe to the appropriate job channels. There are listing for many large cities, and they are adding more on a regular basis. I only wished they had a telecommute category. That would make it easier for those who must telecommute so that the employer would know ahead of time and can list their jobs using a tag for it, e.g., "#telecommute".
I've been signed up for a few weeks now but haven't found anything yet. If you have had any experience finding work using this method, be sure to let me know.
